Background

Helen is from Sydney, Australia where she has lived for most of her adult life. She has more than 15 years experience working with the Australian media, firstly working at one of Australia’s most iconic tourism attractions, Taronga Zoo. Here Helen was instrumental in setting up projects such as the television programme ‘The Zoo’, a behind-the-scenes series of the workings at the Zoo, as well as co-ordinating special events including launches, Ministerial announcements as well as managing creative media campaigns. During this time she also liaised with and managed expectations of stakeholders including corporate sponsors, VIPs, government agencies, media agencies and zoo visitors.

This was followed by working in the Communications team in the internationally renowned medical aid organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), where she worked on internal communications strategies for promoting the organisation and its people, through the website, annual report, donor newsletter, speaking engagements and social media.

Helen is a passionate communicator who loves interacting with people from all walks of life and always keen to learn new things. Her favourite saying is “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” (Benjamin Franklin).
