GCA Corporate Learning & Development gold standard reconfirmed with ISO recertification
DUBAI, 04 JUNE 2017: The GAC Corporate Academy (GCA) has been recertified with the ISO 29990:2010, confirming its high standards for corporate learning and development and its status as one of the leaders in its field.
This follows the Academy’s first ISO 29990:2010 certification in 2014, and the successful completion of an intense external audit to confirm the continuation of its high standards earlier this year. The team of auditors commended the GCA team for its strategic approach and the implementation of risk-based reporting.
The GCA is a global leader in the field of Learning Service Providers which encourage a focus on the learner and the results of the process, and emphasise a full range of options for learning. It was the first in the shipping, marine and logistics industry to be accredited and among the first based in the Middle East and Africa region.
Patrik Halldén, Group Vice President – Human Resources, says recertification represents recognition of the Academy’s continuing commitment to innovative learning methods for GAC employees across the Group.
“Our Academy plays an important role in aligning new joiners and experienced GAC people alike in their understanding of the Group and its interlinked business units,” he adds. "The breadth of courses on offer allows GAC people from all over the world to learn the GAC way of approaching business.”
GAC Group’s internal learning body awarded ISO 29990 quality assurance certificate
DUBAI, 26 JUNE 2014: The GAC Corporate Academy (GCA) has joined the elite group of organisations to achieve ISO 29990 certification in recognition of the learning opportunities it offers.
Only around 30 learning organisations currently hold ISO 29990 certification, which sets the international standard for learning services for non-formal education and training. The GCA is one of the first based in the Middle East and Africa region to be accredited.
Accreditation acknowledges that GCA courses offered to Group employees around the world meet international standards in compliance with recognised quality standards for learning service providers, benefiting both participants and GAC’s management and clients.
The certificate was formally presented to GCA General Manager Damien O’Donoghue by Alireza Ramin Majd, DNV Country Manager for the Middle East, Northeast & South Arica and West Asia, at a ceremony in Dubai yesterday (Wednesday 25 June).
Alireza Ramin Majd says: “Training is an increasingly important investment for companies large and small. That’s why it’s important for training services providers like the GAC Corporate Academy to develop processes and performance standards to measure and meet the challenges they face. ISO 29990 provides a model for quality professional practice and performance, and a common reference for the design, development and delivery of non-formal education, training and development.
“At DNV GL Business Assurance, Middle East, we are honoured to share a small part of the GAC Corporate Academy’s achievement of becoming the first registered company in the region to be added to the world register of ISO 29990 certificate website.”
The Academy delivers flexible, remote learning options for participants using the tailor-made GAC Learn system, powered by Moodle software. Martin Dougiamas, founder and CEO of Moodle Pty Ltd., says: “Congratulations to GAC for the certification of their Learning Services under ISO 29990 – the first such certification I've heard of for a learning organisation using Moodle. It's been a pleasure watching GCA's progress over recent years and I'm happy that Moodle has contributed to its success."
Since its establishment in 2007, the GCA has emerged as a leader in corporate learning. ISO 29990 certification acknowledges its rapid development and the high standards rigourously applied to its learning processes. As a global organisation with a strong focus on performance, it is important that the same high standards should be applied to its internal training systems to ensure that all staff are equipped to serve GAC clients worldwide to highest possible standards.
“The journey from our start-up just seven years ago to where we are today has been incredible. In that time we have seen both the learning culture of GAC as a multinational organisation grow exponentially, and the Corporate Academy mature in its course development and delivery,” says GCA General Manager Damien O’Donoghue.
“ISO 29990 certification sets where we are today as a benchmark of quality standards from which we shall continually innovate and improve over the coming years to continue to fulfil our commitment to deliver the learning strategies of our customers.”
